In 2017, programmes and projects aimed at activating the unemployed and those seeking employment were aimed at supporting the most vulnerable groups of the unemployed.

DLO projects

Projects implemented by District Labour Offices, including those financed from the European Union funds, were aimed at helping the most vulnerable groups of the unemployed. Jobseekers were able to participate in projects such as:

“Aktywizacja osób młodych pozostających bez pracy w powiecie poznańskim” (“Activation of young people remaining unemployed in the Poznań District”), whose main objective was to provide support and increase employment opportunities among young people below 30 years of age; in 2017 support covered nearly 0.9 thousand people – all beneficiaries received job matching services, and selected persons received support in the form of training, internships, funds for starting up a business, training vouchers or settlement benefits (project co-financed from the European Social Fund)
“Aktywizacja zawodowa osób bezrobotnych i poszukujących pracy w powiecie poznańskim” (“Economic activation of the unemployed and jobseekers in the Poznań District”), which concerned support and increase of employment opportunities among persons over 29 years of age; support covered 655 persons in the scope of job placement (including an individual action plan and referral for internships and intervention works) or financial support for starting up a business (project co-financed from the European Social Fund)
“Zawsze Aktywni i Przedsiębiorczy” (“Always Active and Entrepreneurial”) – support was provided for people over 50 years of age through trainings, workshops, one-off grants for starting up a business and co-financing of employment costs for employers
“Na start” (“Starting point”) – support for people aged 30-50 was provided through workshops and one-off grants for starting up a business
“Niania na etacie III” (“Full-time Nanny III”) – a special programme addressed to women over 45, mainly to those in relation to whom measures taken so far in the scope of economic activation have proved insufficient to enable them to return to the labour market or maintain employment

Other entities

In Poznań, other institutions or non-governmental organisations, such as the Employment Agency of the Polish Organisation of Employers of People with Disabilities, were also involved in solving problems of jobseekers (including those with disabilities).

Regular job fairs were organised by, among others, the Provincial Labour Office in Poznań, career offices or students’ government organisations of Poznań’s universities.

Persons looking for employment and those who intended to start a business or ran small businesses were also supported by the Poznań Centre for Entrepreneurship Support, providing information, advisory and training services.

THE TOP SHORTAGE OCCUPATIONS in 2017 IN POZNAŃ included, among others: kindergarten teacher, nurse, recruitment officer, sales officer, automation expert, electrical engineer, accountant, customer advisor, sales representative, children’s guardian, installation and device fitter, printer, beautician, carpenter, cook, car mechanic, locksmith, cashier, cleaner, storekeeper.

THE TOP SURPLUS OCCUPATIONS IN 2017 IN POZNAŃ included, among others: elementary school teacher, journalist, laboratory technician, blacksmith, construction technician, glass product blower, glass cutter and glass machinist, medical equipment operator, air-conditioning and refrigeration installations fitter and maintenance specialist, engraver and decorator of ceramics and glass, musician, power equipment operator.

PLN 18.2 million was allocated for the payment of benefits in 2017; they were received by 7 thousand people.

In 2017, the number of people working in Poznań increased by 4.3% as compared to the previous year and amounted to 340.3 thousand people.

15.3 thousand job offers in Poznań were placed by the District Labour Office in Poznań in 2017, 0.3 thousand less than in the previous year.

During the year, 6.3 thousand unemployed from Poznań registered in the District Labour Office took up employment, and 1.2 thousand people were sent for vocational training.

The District Labour Office in Poznań received the award of the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy for the effectiveness of activation activities undertaken in 2016. Moreover, the DLO was awarded a special prize in a nationwide competition for best practices in labour market institutions and was awarded the title of “Leader in activating young people”. The competition was organised by the Foundation for Promotion of Social Initiatives POLPROM and its aim was to promote projects and activities implemented by public and private institutions, increasing the effectiveness of support targeted at young people.
